The Gradiance Collection The gradiance dyeing technique is exclusive to the Unique Sheep. We have developed a way of dyeing yarn so that as a set of skeins is used, your project will gradually change from one hand painted color to the next. Some sets have a dramatic shift in color, and others have more subtle transition. The gradually transitioned sets will work well to show off more complicated stitch patterns and lacework because each skein is “almost” solid. When working with Gradiance sets it is important to alternate skeins when switching from one successive skein to the next so the color change is almost seamless. You can find tutorials and FAQs about using Gradiance Sets here. There are more tips on how to use Gradiance yarn for shawls can be found here and tips for using Gradiance sock sets, as well as free sock patterns are here, but if you would like a detailed explanation of the technique in a project try out one of these:
We encourage you to use the Gradiance yarns in your own creative ways, but we will continue providing patterns using Gradiance colors in scarves, socks, wraps and other projects. We are working on more designs and will add them to the website as soon as they are ready! Gradiance yarn is sold in sets. A set of 4x25gram Fingering Weight skeins will work well for a pair of socks or lacey scarf and a set of 6x50 gram Fingering Weight skeins will make most shawls and stoles. Lace weight sets are sold as 4 or 6 skein sets depending on the size of shawl or scarf you plan to make. Gradiance sets can be purchased on your choice of base yarns from the individual yarn pages. For yarns or amounts NOT listed on the website, please email us at laura@theuniquesheep.com. Gradiance colorways are available on ALL of our yarns in whatever amount you need, we only list the most popular options. |
