100% Superwash Merino, Sport Weight

Dear Customer,

One of our New Years Resolutions for 2009 is to share with you all the things about our yarns that we love. We realized that although we know all the little details about our yarns that make them special, you might not. Especially if you haven't had a chance to work with them or see them in person. Choosing a yarn to add to our collection is an important decision for us. Each yarn we add has special qualities that draw us to it. Each yarn knits up differently, takes the dye differently and works better for different types of patterns. In this newsletter series we will introduce you to a different yarn each month. Sneaky Sheep Reminder

Have you found a silly little plastic sheep charm in your package? Did you wonder what he was doing there? Its a Sneaky Sheep! Yarn Properties

Fiber Content: 100% Superwash Wool

Weight: Sport Weight, 330yd in 4oz

Recommended needle size: US#3, but can be knit on smaller or larger needles for different effects

Spin: medium to tight twist; enough twist to make it ideal for socks but not so much that it is over twisted

How it takes the dye: because its 100% superwash wool, it takes the dye very well producing strong, bold colors.

Wash/Care Instructions: as with all yarn, handwashing and air drying will increase the life of your handknits but this yarn tolerates machine washing and drying well. It will not felt and pilling and fading are minimal. This is a good "workhorse" type yarn that holds up well to use. We always recommend washing with cold water to keep your colors bright and bold.

Recommended Patterns

Twilled Rib Socks
Foot Prints is a great yarn for socks. Its washable and holds up well to heavy use, and its thicker than you average sock yarn meaning that it knits up quicker! Since its sport weight, rather than fingering weight like most sock yarns, you have to make sure you use a pattern written for sport weight yarn. We recommend the Twilled Rib Socks by Phyll Lagerman. Two cuff options are given- one for a regular ribbed leg and the other for a fold down cuff (as pictured).

Perezoso Hat
Foot Prints is perfect for all sorts of things, not just socks. We just released this great pattern for a unique earflap hat. The Perezoso Hat pattern was originally designed for our Seven Deadly S(p)ins Club, but is now available for sale on our website.
