Our Pima Petite is unlike many cotton yarns in that it is very soft and supple in the hands as it is knitted, or crocheted. It also knits up into a very lightweight fabric, which does not seem to grow when worn, so would be very nice for sweaters and baby items.

Swatching for Gauge (before casting on):

Because cotton yarn is likely to shrink somewhat during laundering (especially if a dryer is used), it is very important to make a gauge swatch at least 5”x5”.

Note the exact dimensions and gauge.

Wash and dry this swatch as you plan on laundering your finished garment (see suggested washing instructions below).

Re-measure the swatch for gauge and cast on accordingly. 
 

Great care has been taken to remove residual dyes from the yarns, but a small amount of color may release when your garment is washed the 1^st time, especially with the darker colors. Use the following laundering instructions to help prevent fading and reduce wear caused by machine washers and dryers. Be aware that hand dyed cotton yarns will fade, like your favorite pair of blue jeans, over time.

Suggested washing instructions:

Add your garment to a lingerie bag.

Machine wash in cool water, gentle cycle, and machine dry with medium heat.

Remove the garment when it is almost dry, lay it flat, and finger block into shape to finish drying.
