Yarn Properties
Fiber Content Wild Thing is a luxurious blend of soft Merino & Tussah Silk. We love tussah silk for two reasons. Unlike cultivated silk, tussah silk production doesn't harm any silk worms. And when harm can be avoided, that seems like a good thing to me. The wild silk worms that produce tussah silk are the inspiration for the name- Wild Thing. The resulting fiber isn't as slick and shiny as cultivated silk. Instead its got this great textured sheen that is more subtle and nuanced.
Weight & Put Up Each 50g skein contains 125yd of DK weight yarn. Suggested Retail Price is $16.
Wash & Care Instructions Handwash Only. Tussah silk is somewhat delicate and the merino component is not superwash, so avoid vigorous rubbing in hot water. This yarn is not ideal for felting projects because the wool will felt but the silk will not.

Pattern Recommendations
Wild Thing is great for accessories like scarves, wristwarmers and neckwarmers. It doesn't have as much spring as some of our other yarns (silk isn't very stretchy) but its very soft and warm. Even people who say they don't like wool often like this yarn!
Into the Woods Scarf The sophisticated Into the Woods Scarf is ideal for a man or a woman. It requires 200g of DK weight yarn (4 skeins of Wild Thing). If think this s carf would look very elegant knit in Wild Thing and peeking out of your winter coat. The scarf can be knit using a Gradiance colorway (as shown) or using a regular colorway. To order a Gradiance set in Wild Thing, please email us.
Cabled Neck Warmer Though I've knit my husband plenty of things, I think that this simple Cabled Neckwarmer gets the most use! Wild Thing is so soft and smooth against your neck and face, making it perfect for neckwarmers. I love how easy it is to pull on a neckwarmer and not have to worry about dragging the end of my scarf behind or having the scarf ends fall into whatever I'm doing (long scarves + soup = trouble!). And this project is great as a last minute gift-- it only takes one skein and knits up in no time!

Victorian Lace Beanie & Cowl For a more feminine option, try the Victorian Lace Beanie and Cowl set. Each piece takes one skein, so you can easily order just as much yarn as you need to make one piece or both. Because of the lace pattern, this set is ideal for the transition weather we will have upon us soon, where its still cold enough to want something on your head and around your neck, but too warm for a thick wool toboggan.
Any of these patterns would make wonderful, quick to knit gifts for your Valentine!
