Crochet Baby Cardigan - Gradiance Instructions

The Crochet Baby Cardigan is a great canvas for the Gradiance color technique created by The Unique Sheep. For our sample, we used 176g of Super Wool (eight 25g Gradiance skeins in the Pacific Sunset colorway) and is between the 18month and 2 year sizes. We used a size larger hook than suggested (H) which gave the fabric more drape and made it a bit larger. Its also slightly more open, making it more appropriate for our perinneal warm weather here in North Carolina.

To get the Gradance effect we started with color #1 and changed every 4-5 rows from color 1 through 4 and then back to 1. Another option would be to change colors every 7-8 rows starting with #1 and ending with #4.

The pattern has instructions for optional collar and cuffs. We did not add the cuffs, but there was plenty of yarn left over. If you have a preference for the color of your collar & cuffs, make sure to set enough of that color aside.

If you decide to crochet this pattern using the Gradiance technique, we'd love to hear from you and see photos. We'd also be happy to help you apply the Gradiance colorways and technique to this pattern or any of our other patterns. Please contact us at kelly@theuniquesheep.com
