Imagine a weekend surrounded by the natural beauty of the North Carolina mountains and the company of other knitters. Add to that a couple of llamas, a gently babbling stream and fiber arts workshops. This will be our third year at Hawkesdene House, a beautiful, secluded mountain retreat in the North Carolina mountains. To see photos and information from the first year, click here.

Our retreat will take place August 24-26 and will be $625 per person which will include accommodations Friday and Saturday night, dinner Fridayand Saturday night and breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday as well as the workshops!

The retreat will be in Andrews, NC which is kind of in the middle of nowhere. The closest airports are in Atlanta, GA and Asheville, NC so if you will be flying in please contact us to discuss your travel options.

Hawkesdene House is very flexible and I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with all the food choices but hopefully I’ve chosen things that everyone will be able to enjoy. If you have any special dietary concerns that you haven’t told me about yet, please email me at laura@theuniquesheep.com. Also, if you are vegetarian please let me know so we can plan for you!

Workshops

We are honored to have guest Instructor Merike Saarnit joining us again this year! Merike is an accomplished artist and well known teacher. She has taught classes in all things that have to do with fiber at shows and conferences all over the world. If you take a workshop with Merike, her relaxed style, patience, and encouraging words make you feel as if "You can do it". Kelly can attest to this, as Merike taught her how to dye yarn which eventually led to the partnership with Laura in The Unique Sheep!

Some of you may be familiar with Merike's patterns from our Seven Deadly Spins, 6 Kingdoms and 7 Wonders clubs. Her designs are often a challenge, are never boring, and usually contain elements that are easy to integrate into other stitching projects.

Merike will be teaching two workshops at the retreat. The class subjects will be announced soon.
