Information for Test Knitters/ Sample Knitters
Every time a designer creates a new pattern for The Unique Sheep it has to be tested to make sure there aren't any errors and to clean up any confusing parts. Sometimes we also need samples knit of new patterns to use for photo shoots, trunk shows and/or to see how patterns look in different yarns and colors. When we have a new pattern needing testing / samples knit we send an email out to our test knitter email list. If you would like to be added to our list, please contact us at laura@theuniquesheep.com. Sometimes we will be looking speficially just for testing or just for sample knitting, but other times we will be open for either option. If it isn't clear what we are looking for please ask. Below are our basic guidelines for both types of projects:
Test Knitting
- pattern is provided for free, before public release
- knitter agrees to test knit the pattern and work in collaboration with the designer to improve the pattern
- knitter agrees to keep all information and photos about the pattern secret unless told otherwise (please ask if you have questions)
- yarn is provided at 50% off retail price, in the color chosen by the knitter (and the amount needed for the size of knitter's choice)
- the knitter keeps the finished product
Sample Knitting
- pattern and yarn are provided free
- we decide on color and size of sample (if applicable)
- knitters agrees to test the pattern and work in collaboration with the designer to imrpove the pattern
- knitters agrees to keep all information and photos about pattern secret unless told otherwise (if pattern hasn't been released yet)
- finished sample is returned to the Unique Sheep for use in photo shoots, trunk shows, etc
- knitter is reimbursed for work with a Unique Sheep gift card (amount is determined by size and difficulty level of project)
These are our basic guidelines, but we are very flexible. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us at laura@theuniquesheep.com!
